I was hanging out with my classmates when somebody approached us, “Kuya, bili po kayo?” (Brother, would you like to buy?) She was holding a plastic bag with biscuits inside it. I was amazed with her courage to convince people despite the fact that she might get offended by people who do not understand her situation. Yes, she may not be affluent but her industriousness is really inspiring. It is not a new thing because we are living in a country which, according to the book I read, Sociology: Focus on the Philippines by Panopio and Raymundo, 36% of total population are living in poverty. The estimated value was based on 2000 Philippine Census and maybe it already increased today. However, poverty is not a hindrance if a Filipino wants to be productive and successful. Maybe we are just lazy but if we will work hard and if we are determined, nothing is impossible with the help of Almighty.
